Coaching industry insights tell us that the coaching industry is currently experiencing explosive growth. Every day, it seems like there’s a new coach popping up on LinkedIn, Instagram, and even TikTok. To make it in this space, passion alone won’t cut it. You have to dig deeper.

Certifications are foundational in coaching. Not only do they prove to clients that you are able to deliver transformative results, but the right certification can directly impact your profits. Motivation Code certification adds new opportunities for coaches never before available.

MCode taps into human motivation and connects that driver to a client’s ultimate success. When you truly understand what makes your clients tick, you become the coach who “gets it.” Clients are even willing to pay premium rates for that level of insight.

Let’s discuss what makes MCode so valuable to your coaching practice.

What Is MCode?

Motivation Code, or MCode, is an assessment developed by a team of behavioral scientists and data analysts. It takes a unique approach to understanding what makes people tick and how they find fulfillment. Unlike traditional personality assessments, MCode combines personal storytelling with scientific methodology to uncover deep-seated motivations.

“I’ve taken all kinds of personality tests and nothing has been as accurate, helpful, or actionable as MCode. Every word I read made me go, ‘Yes, this is it EXACTLY!’ It articulates what motivates me in ways I’d never considered before.” — Georgiana Laudi, Co-Founder and CEO, Forget The Funnel

MCode’s methodology is based on over 60 years of behavioral research on motivation. The assessment isn’t based on self-reporting, which can be unreliable. Instead it breaks down 32 common core motivators into eight Motivational Dimensions, or themes.  These themes are identified through a unique process:

  • Story Analysis. Participants share stories about times when they felt highly motivated or energized. These narratives are analyzed for recurring patterns and themes.
  • Language Processing. Advanced algorithms examine the specific language used in these stories, looking for key phrases and emotional indicators that align with known motivational factors.
  • Behavioral Patterns. The assessment looks at how individuals describe their actions and reactions in various situations, which can reveal underlying motivational tendencies.
  • Contextual Evaluation. MCode considers the context in which motivations emerge, recognizing that different environments can trigger different drivers.
  • Comparative Analysis. Individual results are compared against a large database of analyzed stories and motivational patterns to identify the most prominent themes.
  • Hierarchy of Motivators: The assessment doesn’t just identify motivators but ranks them in order of significance for the individual.

This approach aims to provide a more objective and nuanced understanding of what truly drives an individual. It goes beyond surface-level preferences or stated goals. By focusing on actual experiences and the language used to describe them, MCode bypasses conscious biases and taps into deeper, often unconscious motivational factors.

Breaking Through The Noise

Recent coaching industry insights show that there are 4.38 million practicing coaches worldwide. This has led to intense competition and a need for differentiation. Coaches are facing a real challenge — they need to prove their value quickly and deliver measurable results. Generic approaches just don’t cut it anymore.

An MCode certification addresses these challenges by providing coaches with a tool for rapid, deep understanding of client motivations. This, in turn, allows for more tailored coaching approaches and improved client engagement.

Coaches need tools that can provide objective insights while allowing for a more nuanced interpretation. This is what MCode aims to provide.

MCode vs. Other Assessments

While tools like DiSC, Big Five, StrengthsFinder, and Myers-Briggs offer valuable insights, they miss a primary element of human psychology. Without motivation, coaches are missing key indicators that lead to fulfillment.

“Through the powerful tool MCode, I am able to accelerate the process of uncovering the insights we need to align initiatives with what matters most to my clients. If you’re a coach looking to ask more powerful questions and lead your clients toward an aligned, energy-giving life, not just a financially successful one, MCode is your secret weapon.” — David Tofilon, Brand Strategist, Tofilon Consulting

For example, a client can excel at something (their strength) but still feel unfulfilled if it doesn’t align with their core motivations.

Imagine an Optimizer who excels at improving efficiency in their company’s financial systems. On paper, they’re incredibly successful—they’ve saved the company millions through process improvements and automated workflows. Their strength in optimization is undeniable.

But, despite being naturally gifted at this work, they feel unfulfilled because their core motivation is to make a direct positive impact on people’s lives. They may find more satisfaction in applying their optimization talents to improving healthcare systems and processes. In this environment, they can see how their efficiency improvements directly help people.

MCode bridges this gap, helping you reveal your clients’ potential even within their areas of strength.

3 Examples of MCode in Action

Imagine having a key that unlocks the hidden drivers behind your clients’ behaviors, decisions, and aspirations. That’s exactly what MCode offers to coaches like you. By tapping into the power of motivation, you can transform your coaching practice and deliver unprecedented results for your clients.

Whether you’re working with busy entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, or individuals seeking personal growth, MCode provides a unique lens through which to view and address their challenges.

“I’ve done a lot of assessments, so I thought I knew what to expect when I took the MCode assessment. I was wrong. It gave me insights no other personality or gift assessments have given me. In addition, filling out the assessment questionnaire helped me connect dots on my gifting and talent that I had never noticed before. I’m a huge fan.” — Carey Nieuwhof, Author, Speaker, Podcaster

Let’s explore how you can apply MCode insights across various coaching scenarios, from boosting personal health to driving business success. These real-world applications demonstrate the versatility and power of motivation-based coaching, showcasing how MCode can be your secret weapon in helping clients achieve breakthrough results.

Enhancing Personal Health and Fitness Goals

MCode helps you align fitness routines with clients’ core motivations. Most fitness training programs focus primarily on exercises and nutrition. But an Achiever requires a specially designed workout plan with clear milestones, a structured schedule, and competitive elements to ensure success and maximum fulfillment.

Enhancing Leadership and Team Dynamics

MCode works the same for team communication and task allocation. For instance, if you have a client leading a diverse team, the motivational insight for each team member is game-changing.

Imagine a project manager with a strong Optimizer dimension. They could be tasked with streamlining processes, playing to their strengths and boosting their job satisfaction.

Preventing Burnout and Improving Work-Life Balance

For entrepreneurs and high-achievers, use their MCode profile to reframe self-care. If you have a client with strong Driver or Achiever dimensions, they might view downtime as ‘unproductive’. Help them see it differently.

MCode results should be used to show clients how rest actually fuels achievement. A daily workout or meditation session will no longer be seen as time away from work, but as essential time that makes them more effective at work.

Remember, MCode isn’t just about understanding motivations. It’s about applying that understanding to create real, lasting change in your clients’ lives.

MCode Certification Process

Becoming MCode certified is a journey that can increase both skillsets and profits. The certification helps you understand how to provide the best coaching experience to your clients.
