Are you underestimating the power of LinkedIn as a coach? In this exclusive guide, just for Coach Factory members, Nicole Osborne dispels common misconceptions about the platform and explains how it can be your 24/7 digital shopfront to attract higher-paying clients. Discover three compelling reasons to use LinkedIn effectively and learn practical tips to enhance your LinkedIn profile, create engaging content, and build meaningful connections in the coaching world.

Hallo, super coaches! How many of you are snoozing on LinkedIn posts, because you:

  • Think it’s just the digital version of a stuffy corporate mixer?
  • See it as Spam City, and don’t want to add to the noise?
  • Want to build connections there, but don’t know how?
  • Avoid posting for fear of judgement from your peers?

Look, I totally get it! But listen, I think you’ve got LinkedIn all wrong! Now hear me out… LinkedIn is no longer just a virtual rolodex. Oh nein, it’s so much more!

Think of it as your digital shopfront, open 24/7, inviting potential clients to learn more about who you are, your expertise, and the transformative experiences you offer. So if you’re one of those coaches letting the dreaded salesy label or fear of judgement hold you back, I’m here to help you shatter those limiting beliefs!

In this guide, you’ll discover why LinkedIn is such a goldmine for coaches, and how to fine-tune your profile and LinkedIn content strategy to attract and truly engage your dream clients.

Ready to stand out from the spam? WUNDERBAR! Let’s go.

Why LinkedIn is Your New Best Friend

LinkedIn isn’t just a platform to flaunt your shiny resume and collect endorsements like they’re Pokémon cards, nein!

It’s a buzzing-with-potential space where you can genuinely connect, learn from others, share your wisdom, and (drumroll, please)…attract those higher-paying clients.

Super, right!? Here are three fantastisch reasons LinkedIn is a must-post platform for coaches.

#1 Build Your Influence: Ever dreamed of giving a TED Talk? Well, LinkedIn is like your own mini-TED stage. A space to build influence and be seen as an expert. Share your coaching gems on LinkedIn, and they’ll land right in front of the people who need your guidance the most. Cool, right?

#2 Virtual Handshake: LinkedIn serves as that friendly virtual handshake with potential clients looking for coaches like you. It helps you build a rapport with warm leads well before that first chat!

#3 Big Trust Builder: LinkedIn is the credibility jackpot! Your profile is stacked with testimonials, endorsements, and your professional journey. When potential clients see all that gut stuff, they know you’re the real deal.

How to Create an Irresistible LinkedIn Profile

You’ve no idea how many LinkedIn profiles I come across that don’t even have the basic details filled in! What kind of impression does that give to potential clients?

Nicht gut, I’ll tell you that!

This is your chance to show people the real you.

A place to charm them with your authenticity, expertise, and approach – from your profile picture to your “About” section. So make every detail count!

  • Get Picture Perfect: Add a high-quality photo of you looking professional yet freundlich (friendly), as we say in Germany!
  • Include Coaching Keywords: If people can’t find you, you’re missing out on valuable connections. Use relevant terms your potential clients might be searching for in your profile, like life coach or business mentor.
  • Make Your Headline Pop!: You’ve got 220 characters to work with here. So make them count! Your headline shouldn’t be just Life Coach. Make it a mini-story: Empowering You to Live Your Best Life | Certified Life Coach | 100+ Happy Clients Around The World | Proud Dog Mom
  • Jazz Up Your About: This is your 2,000 characters of real estate to call out your audience, show them you understand their struggles, and make it clear how you can help them. Fill this space with your passion for coaching, your methods, and perhaps a fun fact about your love for hiking or your not-so-secret talent for baking the perfect Apfelstrudel!
  • Add Testimonials: Just like you wouldn’t buy a car without checking the reviews, potential clients also look for validation. Ask satisfied clients or colleagues to endorse your skills and write you recommendations.

Great Examples of Coaches on LinkedIn to Get You Inspired!

  • Kay Peacey: Known as the growth cheerleader for her audience, Kay demystifies email marketing like no one else
  • Osmaan Sharif: His warm and caring nature makes you feel like you’re his only client
  • Maddy Shine: Her profile doesn’t just blend into the crowd. She encourages women to embrace their unique selves

Stand Out from the Spam: Powerful LinkedIn Content Ideas

Remember, you’re not just talking to LinkedIn members; you’re talking to people, humans who crave connection. So make sure you post content filled with actionable insights, unique perspectives, and maybe even a dash of humour.

Make it informative, engaging, and unapologetically you – and you’ll stand out from the rest!

Share Your Personal Stories

Sharing an anecdote or a personal story builds trust with LinkedIn users and helps you create LinkedIn posts that people actually want to read!

Talk about your highs, lows, and aha moments. These aren’t just your stories; they’re your credibility. For example, what about discussing a major turning point in your coaching journey? Did a client’s breakthrough make you reevaluate your methods?

Take my post about letting your work speak for itself, for instance. Here, I’m talking about my background growing up in Eastern Germany, and how that shaped my perspective on breaking down the (Berlin) walls that hold us back.

People want to get to know you as a person and all the experiences that have made you the WUNDERBAR coach you are today!

Highlight FOMO-Inducing Client Wins

Highlight FOMO-Inducing Client Wins

Your coaching client’s victory is your best advertisement! When people witness the WUNDERBAR transformations you’ve cultivated for clients, they’ll want those results for themselves.

But how can you create client success posts on LinkedIn without coming across as boasty or arrogant? It’s einfach (simple), really: Make it a teachable moment.

Talk about their problems, how you helped them, and the results, so your audience can learn something themselves. Give away just enough to make them want more!

Promote Your Unique Genius

You’re not a Wikipedia page; you’re a living, breathing fountain of wisdom. Don’t be afraid to share that wisdom with the world! After all, that’s what coaching is all about, right?

Whether it’s a blog post on coaching psychology or a simple how-to guide, share uber-useful short- and long-form content to show off your expertise (in a humble, helpful, genuine way)!

To see what I mean, check out my LinkedIn post about overcoming my fear of being judged for my David Hasslehoff obsession (yes, you read that right!).

As the great George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, said, “When people get to know the people behind your product and how it’s made, they talk about you more.” In other words, showing up as your authentic self while showing off your expertise and process really connects with people!

Quick but Mighty LinkedIn Habits to Maximise Your Success!

I’ll leave you with these key LinkedIn tips to help you use this platform to its full potential.

  • Comment Like You Mean It: Stop with the lazy “Great post!” comments. A meaningful comment can start a relationship. Imagine every comment as a mini-post! Watch my vlog here for more tips about commenting on LinkedIn.
  • Build Relationships First: You wouldn’t propose to someone on the first date, would you? Similarly, before pitching, take time to ‘date’ your potential clients. Get to know them, ask meaningful questions, and offer real value. Then the eventual sales pitch won’t really feel like one.
  • Network Like a Pro: Collaboration rocks! Luckily, LinkedIn makes it easy to foster those connections. Connect thoughtfully with other coaches and industry influencers – maybe even host a joint Q&A or webinar. This will give you access to a bigger audience.
  • Lead Magnet Magic: Create a lead magnet specifically tailored to your LinkedIn followers – like a checklist or free 5-day challenge – and add a link to it to your featured section, the top of your profile, contact section, and some of your LinkedIn posts.
  • Don’t Shy Away From DMs: Reaching out can be nerve-wracking at first. But trust me, it’s so worth doing! Turn those connections into clients by actively messaging potential clients and starting a genuine chat (leave the sales pitches to the spammers).
  • Mix Up Your Content: Variety is key! Offer a balanced diet of LinkedIn articles, long-form content, video posts, user-generated content (sharing other people’s content with your take on it), document posts, and snippets from your best content to tickle the LinkedIn algorithm!
  • Actively Engage: Don’t be a wallflower. Jump into discussions, share your thoughts, and let your expertise shine.
  • Ask Questions: Add easy questions to your posts. Many people are lurkers on LinkedIn, and this will make it easier for them to share their thoughts. Everyone wants to look good on social media, so don’t ask them to reveal their struggle. Encourage them to share a win instead
  • Be Consistent: Regularly share and engage. Schedule it if you have to. After all, consistency is what makes a good German Autobahn — and a strong LinkedIn presence!
  • Use New Features: stay on top of latest features by following LinkedIn for Creators. On this page, the LinkedIn team introduces all the latest features and how to use them!
